Responding to doubles

Respond in no-trumps with a control in the opponents' suit(s) and a balanced hand (less than 2 distribution points)

  • 1NT shows 8 - 9 HCP
  • 2NT shows 10 - 11 HCP
  • 3NT shows 12 plus HCP

Respond in your best suit:

  • At the cheapest level with less than 11 points
  • At the cheapest level with more than 8 points after an intervening bid
  • Jump in a 5-card or longer suit with more than 11 points
