The Weak Two

This option enables the use of the bidding system currently employed in competitions. An opening of 2 ♠, 2 , or 2  (when a strong 2  is not selected) is not a strong bid. These bids are mini pre-empts whose meaning is similar to that of a weak jump overcall (6 cards and less than 10 HCP). The minimum strength varies with the vulnerability.

Invoking this option also affects the range of some strong bids. 2NT now corresponds to 20-21 HCP, and 2 ♣ to a minimum of 22 HCP.

can remain as a strong bid, showing a minimum of 24 HCP and asking for Aces.

If partner has support for the weak suit and has interest in game or slam he responds 2NT. With  minimum values, opener re-bids his suit at the 3 level. Maximum with a void, he uses a splinter bid. Maximum otherwise, opener employs a cue bid showing a value in that suit, or bids 3NT.
